Good Monsoon rains have been lashing Gujarat region for last couple of days and last 24 hours were no different. Deesa recorded highest rainfall across the state with 55.6 mm of rain.
Meanwhile, Saurashtra and Kutch region witnessed light to moderate showers only.
According to Skymet Weather, these rains can be attributed to the two cyclonic circulations marked over South Madhya Pradesh and Marathwada region of Maharashtra, respectively. The interaction between both the systems has been giving good rains over the Gujarat region.
Further, both the systems will merge together and move in northwest direction towards Gujarat region. With this, light to moderate rains will continue over this region for the next 48 hours till July 30. Few heavy spells are also likely during this time period.
Scattered light rains are also expected over Saurashtra and Kutch, with isolated moderate spells.
The western state has been highly rain deficit so far in the four-month long Monsoon season. As on July 27, cumulative rain deficiency for Gujarat region stands at 43%, while Saurashtra and Kutch has been even worse and deficiency stands at 57%.
However, the moderate rainy spells are likely to bring down the rain deficiency in the state to an extent.
Following are the rainfall figures recorded across the state in span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday.
