The state of Gujarat has been witnessing good Monsoon showers for the past few days. While, a few days ago, these Monsoon showers were scattered in nature, but now almost the entire state has been receiving good rains.
The last 24 hours were no different and good Monsoon showers have been recorded over many parts of Gujarat. In fact, Ahmedabad which was witnessing dry weather conditions since a long time has also recorded 46 mm rain.
During the last 21 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday to 5:30 am today, Vadodara received a whopping 58 mm of rain. Other areas to have received good showers include Surat where 35 mm rain was received, Veraval where 49 mm rain was recorded, Rajkot 27 mm, Porbandar 15 mm, and Okha 1 mm.
At present, a cyclonic circulation is over Southwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Gujarat and Madhya Maharashtra. Due to this weather system, Monsoon rains are in full swing over the state of Gujarat. The next 24 hours will also bring some rainfall activity over the state of Gujarat bringing in more relief for the residents.
Despite good Monsoon rains during the last few days, Gujarat continues to remain rain deficit. At present, the state of Gujarat as a whole is witnessing a rainfall deficiency of 23 percent. As far as subdivisions are concerned, the Gujarat region is 27 percent rain deficient, while Saurashtra is witnessing a rain deficiency of 17 percent falling under the normal rains category.
