Presently, the axis of Monson Trough is moving across Central India while passing through North Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal and then towards East-Central Bay of Bengal. The Trough is likely to shift further northwards close to the foothills in the coming days.
Apart from this, a Cyclonic Circulation is likely to form over Northeast Bay of Bengal which will further intensify into a Low-Pressure Area by August 12 over North Bay of Bengal.
Thus, patchy rains are likely to be observed in parts of Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. These rains are further likely to enhance mainly over the foothills of Bihar, some parts of Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal. These rains will enhance even further over Jharkhand and West Bengal as the Low-Pressure Area is likely to form over the North Bay.
As of now, all three states of Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal are running rain deficient. While Bihar is rain deficient by 6%, Jharkhand is deficient by 35%, while Gangetic West Bengal is running deficient by a total of 43%.
The upcoming rains might not be able to cover up for the deficiency as we do not expect any significant rainfall over the area during the next couple of days.
