Rain in rayalaseemaThe worst performing regions, meteorologically, Rayalaseema, Marathwada and North Interior Karnataka have been receiving light scattered rain for last few days. According to Skymet, with forecast for more rain in the coming days, rainfall deficiency in these areas is slated to drop marginally.

Currently, Marathwada is staring at a staggering rainfall deficiency of 46%, followed by North Interior Karnataka at 44% and Rayalaseema with rainfall deficiency of 32%. Due to their geographical presence in India, these areas remain inflicted with the scar of receiving poor or scanty rainfall even if India witnesses a season of normal Monsoon.

The weather systems originating in the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal during the Southwest Monsoon also affect coastal stations in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh before travelling to interior parts of these states. The Monsoon trough too leads to light, scattered rain over the above mentioned rain deficient areas.

However, the light scattered rain that continues for 2-3 days in Marathwada, Rayalaseema and interior parts of Karnataka facilitate in bringing down the temperature and rainfall deficiency to an extent.

According to Skymet, a trough is extending up to Coastal Andhra Pradesh across North Interior Karnataka from the cyclonic circulation that is persisting over East Central Arabian Sea off Karnataka. This trough will continue to give light scattered rain over parts of Karnataka, Rayalaseema and few districts of Marathwada till 27th August. With this, rainfall deficiency will observe a slight drop in the coming few days.
