Rain deficient Rajasthan and Gujarat recorded heavy showers

Month of August was almost dry for most parts of Gujarat and western districts of Rajasthan. This prolonged dry spell in the month of August damage crops in both the states. Last week of August witnessed revival of monsoon rain over Gujarat and Mary part of a Rajasthan. September commenced with rainy note as the successive low-pressure areas are developing over Bay of Bengal and heading in westerly direction towards south Rajasthan and Gujarat.

Last 24 hours, many parched districts of Rajasthan have received the decent rainfall. Phalodi 55 mm, Ajmer 31, Udaipur 48, Chittorgarh 53, Sawai Madhopur 11, Kota 17, Barmer recorded 35, Ganganagar 24 and Mount Abu recorded 44 mm rain.

Many parts of Saurashtra and Kutch witnessed 3-digit rainfall on September 9. And since then, on and off moderate showers are going on over many parts of Gujarat.

A low-pressure area is over Eastern part of Rajasthan and a fresh low pressure area has developed over East Central Bay of Bengal. Which may intensify into a depression and will move in westerly direction towards Centre India. There are chances of moderate to heavy showers to continue over and Southern parts of Rajasthan as well as many parts of Gujarat for net 2 to 4 days. The late revival of monsoon over These areas will certainly boost the spirit of farmer and masses. Water reservoirs may also get benefited. These rains will increase the soil moisture for upcoming Rabi crops.
