August 3, 2016 12:50 PM |

Gujarat rain At present, Gujarat is one of the most rain deficient regions of the country. The subdivision of the Gujarat Region is rain deficient by 44% while Saurashtra & Kutch has receives 45% less rains than normal.

For the last many days, light rains have been observed over many districts of Gujarat. Weather has not been completely dry, as was the case in the month of June and first half of July.

The rain deficiency is decreasing gradually over the entire state. During the last few days of July, good rainfall was witnessed over many districts of Gujarat including Bhavnagar, Rajkot, Deesa, Ahmedabad and Vadodra. These places received moderate to heavy rains. The last week of July saw the first heavy spell of rainfall in Gujarat in the entire Monsoon season, which has brought down rain deficiency considerably.

Now, a cyclonic circulation is hovering over the Gujarat region. This may bring heavy rainfall at a few places over North and East Gujarat during next 24 to 48 hours. Thereafter, the Kutch region, which has received very less rainfall so far, may also get light to moderate rains on August 5 and 6. On and off rains will continue over Gujarat till about August 10, when rains may pick up pace once again.

During last 24 hours, Amreli and Vadodra received about 5 mm of rainfall.
