What a perfect start for the long weekend for Delhites, with rain commencing over several parts of Delhi-NCR. Lightning and thunderstorm along with light drizzling have been reported across many parts of South and North Delhi, Ghaziabad and Noida. While, East Delhi has been experiencing moderate showers.
Rohtak in the neighbouring state of Haryana has also reported heavy rain and Hisar is experiencing thundershowers.
According to Skymet Meteorological Division in India, this spell of rain will last for another couple of hours. Thereafter, intermittent light to moderate is again expected during late night hours and Friday morning.
As per the forecast, Delhi and plains of North India will be witnessing rain for the next 48 hours, bringing respite from scorching heat during the afternoons. In wake of the weather, maximum temperatures that have been settling in mid 30s, will register a drop and settle in high 20s. While, minimum temperatures will hover around 20°C, making both day and night pleasant.
An active Western Disturbance, which is already affecting North India along with an induced cyclonic circulation over Pakistan and adjoining North Rajasthan will be responsible for causing light to moderate rain over the city.
