Fresh weather systems are approaching Northwest India which will impact both the hills and plains of the region.
A Western Disturbance that is presently marked over Afghanistan will start affecting the northern hills by February 6 evening. The system will also induce a cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan and adjoining Haryana.
The disturbance will bring rain and snow over the hilly states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand February 6 evening onward.
While the cyclonic circulation will cause light to moderate rain over many parts Punjab and Haryana, isolated pockets of Delhi and North Rajasthan, and a few places of Northwest Uttar Pradesh will also receive some rain.
According to Skymet Weather, intensity of rain will be light on February 6 but activity will pick up pace both in terms of intensity and spread on February 7.
Not only this, the wind pattern will also change in wake of the weather systems. Warm and humid southwesterlies from Arabian Sea will start blowing over the northwestern plains.
As a result, minimum temperatures that have been settling in lower single digits will increase significantly over the region at least by 5-6 degrees.
Meanwhile, parts of South and Central Rajasthan and Gujarat will not witness any weather activity and will continue to observe clear sky and bright sunshine. However, the region will still witness rise in night temperatures by 3-4 degrees.
These weather conditions will lead to the abatement of wintry chill over the region during late night and early morning hours till the passage of both the weather systems.
