Most parts of West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand and Bihar have been witnessing warm and humid weather conditions for quite some time now. To such an extent that several places witnessed day maximums of 2°C to 3°C above the normal levels. These weather conditions can be credited to absence of any significant weather system over the region.
But now, as per Skymet Weather, rain god has bestowed some benevolence over the eastern parts of the country. Isolated light rain and thunderstorm activities are likely over northeast parts of Bihar, adjoining West Bengal and Jharkhand and North Coastal Odisha during the next 24 hours. Thereafter, the weather will once again go dry and clear.
These upcoming rain and thunderstorm activity can be attributed to a cyclonic circulation over East Bihar and adjoining areas. A trough is also extending from North Bihar up to North Coastal Odisha across West Bengal.
Due to this isolated activity, both maximum and minimum temperatures will witness a marginal drop, leading to pleasant and comfortable weather across the eastern region. The relief is much needed in Odisha, which have been reeling under heatwave like conditions.
As of now, states of East India are observing maximum temperatures between 30°C to 40°C, while minimums are settling in the range of 20°C to 30°C.
Malda district in West Bengal has witnessed lightning strikes with thunder squalls in last 24 hours. Due to this weather feature, crops have been severely affected but no casualties were reported.
