The Northwestern plains of the country consist of Punjab, Haryana, North Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. These regions had been witnessing dry for the past few days. The day and night temperatures were on a rise leading to warm weather conditions.

However, some regions of the northwestern plains such as Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan received light rain and thunderstorm activity on Holi, i.e. yesterday. In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Friday, Ludhiana recorded very light rain to the tune of 1 mm, Sri Ganganagar 0.4 mm and Amritsar 0.2 mm rain.
As per Skymet Weather, a Western Disturbance is prevailing over North Pakistan and adjoining regions. It has induced a cyclonic circulation, which is persisting over Central Pakistan and adjoining Punjab region. Due to these combined weather system, scattered places in the northwestern plains recorded thundershower and rainfall activity.
As per the weathermen, chances are still there for another spell of rain to occur over Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan during the next 24 hours. In fact, thunderstorm activity may also occur over Delhi and adjoining West Uttar Pradesh.
Places such as Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Ambala, Sri Ganganagar and Saharanpur are likely to witness rain and thunderstorm activity. In fact, some regions may also witness hailstorm.
Moreover, the day temperatures are also likely to drop marginally over the northwestern plains. However, the weather during the day would be warm but morning is likely to be pleasant.
