Several weather systems have been active simultaneously in North India, due to which rain activities have started in some areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh. Rain activities are expected to increase gradually. In view of the current weather conditions, light to moderate rain and snowfall will occur over at some places in Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during the next 48 hours.
During the last 24 hours between 8:30 am on February 2 to 8:30 am on February 3, Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir received 14 mm of rainfall and snowfall, Srinagar recorded 1 mm of rainfall and Qazigund 0.2 mm of rainfall. During the same period, Amritsar in Punjab also recorded 2 mm of rainfall. Rain and thundershowers were seen at some places in the Terai areas of Haryana.
During the next 48 hours, light to moderate rainfall is expected at many places in the Terai region of Punjab and Haryana. There is also a possibility of thundershower with gusty winds along with rain. Scattered rains are expected in Delhi on 4 February. Rain will start in parts of western Uttar Pradesh from 4 February and rain activity will be seen on 5 and 6 February in central and eastern parts.
There is a possibility of rain in the northeastern parts of Rajasthan. At the moment, Rajasthan will not be affected much by the rain. Due to the change in the weather, the minimum temperature in the mountains and plains of North India has increased and the cold wave conditions have ended. However, as soon as the seasonal stir ends in North India, it is expected that from 5 and 6 February, the cold winds will start from north and west, which will make people realize the return of winter. However, now the temperature will not go to the level of 4-5 degrees, so the possibility of cold wave conditions are ruled out.
