The past Western Disturbances have been giving scattered rain and thundershower activities in Rajasthan. Particularly, the northern districts of Rajasthan including Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Churu, and Bikaner have been observing these weather activities.
Also, the present Western Disturbance which is moving across the Western Himalayas has given fairly widespread rain and thundershowers in the last 24 hours with a few intense hailstorm activities in parts of Rajasthan including the city of Jaipur as well. Although the weather of Gujarat has been dry from the past one month, only patchy rain was observed during the same episode at a few places.
The reason for these rains can be attributed to the presence of a cyclonic circulation over the western parts of Rajasthan. And, the moisture incursion from the Arabian Sea in the form of southwesterly winds. Also, a trough was extending from West Rajasthan up to Gujarat region.
According to our meteorologists, the cyclonic circulation will gradually shift eastwards. Therefore, the rainfall activities will subside from Gujarat today. The southern districts of Rajasthan will also witness dry weather conditions today and tomorrow as well.
But, the northern districts such as Sri Ganganagar, Churu, Bikaner, Hanumangarh, Jhunjhunu, Alwar, Sikar and etc may observe scattered rain and thundershowers by the late hours of today.
Thereafter, the weather of the entire state of Rajasthan will start clearing up. Thus, we can say it as the unseasonal spell of rain for the state of Gujarat is over now.
Yet, another spell of rain is likely to commence in the state of Rajasthan. This spell of rain and thundershowers will be seen from the late-night hours of March 10 and will further continue until March 11. The reason for another fresh spell of rain will be due to the approach of another fresh Western Disturbance over the Western Himalayas.
During the episode of this fresh spell, hailstorm activities are also possible.
