Light rain and thundershower are being observed in several parts of Northeast India for the last 24 hours like Assam, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh.
Due to the rainfall activity, the day temperatures have dropped but the nights have become comfortable. For instance, the day temperature recorded in Dibrugarh on Friday was 25.6 degrees Celsius and the night temperature settled at a comfortable 16 degrees Celsius.
The hilly areas of Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and Nagaland have still been observing cold weather conditions.
Currently, an upper air cyclonic circulation is prevailing over the northern parts of Bangladesh and adjoining lower Assam. Due to the presence of this system light rain and thundershower is expected at isolated places in northern parts of Assam like Barpeta Tejpur and Dibrugarh. Some places in Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland may also witness these weather activities.
This weather activity is expected to continue in the region for another 24-36 hours. Thereafter, the night temperature will begin to rise while the day temperature will drop marginally.
During early morning hours shallow to moderate intensity fog may be observed at some places. And surface winds will be light.
All the above situation points towards a comfortable and dry weather condition in the northeast for about a week.
