Northeastern states of India i.e. Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura have been receiving rain and thundershower activities along with strong winds since the last few days. An anti-cyclone in the Bay of Bengal has also assisted in giving rain in the region .

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Tuesday, Pasighat recorded 56 mm of rain, followed by Kailashahar 38 mm, Cherrapunji 23 mm, Dibrugarh 22 mm, Agartala 13 mm, Golaghat 12 mm, Silchar 10 mm, Haflong 9 mm, Tezpur 6 mm, Mazbat and North Lakhimpur 4 mm.

At present, the anti-cyclonic circulation is seen over central parts of Bay of Bengal, which is providing moisture content to the northeastern states in association with Western Disturbance’s moving along the Tibet region. A cyclonic circulation is also marked over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining parts of Bangladesh.

In the wake of all these weather systems, we expect light to moderate rain and thundershower activities along with strong winds in parts of Northeast India. Despite the weather systems, rains will reduce in Upper Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. However, South Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur and Mizoram will witness rains with increased intensity.

Due to these rains, the maximum temperatures will increase in parts of Sikkim, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh in the coming two to three days.
