As of now, a Cyclonic Circulation is persisting over eastern parts of Bihar and adjoining areas. Along with this, an Anti-Cyclone is over North Bay of Bengal which is feeding moisture over West Bengal. Therefore, light to moderate with few moderate spells of rain and thundershower activities to occur over many parts of West Bengal for at least next 48 hours. Kolkata, Bankura, North and South 24 Parganas, Murshidabad, Cooch Behar, Darjeeling, Hugli, Howrah, Jalpaiguri, Digha, Diamond Harbour etc. would get to witness these wet spells. Adding to this, Kolkata might receive intermittent good rain and thundershower activities for next two to three days. This spell of rain will not have a strong bearing on the day temperatures of the region as pre-Monsoon activities usually happen during late afternoon or evening hours. In the last 24 hours, Shantiniketan has already recorded 38 mm of rains while Kolkata has witnessed around 25 mm of rains.

Strong winds with 40-60 kmph, violent thunderstorms along with hailstorm activities during this tenure cannot be ruled out. Possibility of damaging winds should not be ignored; people should be cautious and are advised to take proper precaution well before hand.
