Srinagar had to eagerly wait for the season’s first snowfall and now the beautiful valley seems to be gasping for respite from rain and snow. Much to dismay of people in Srinagar, more rain is in the offing. As have been reiterated by Skymet, a fresh Western Disturbance will bring precipitation in the hills of North India.

Rain and snowfall in Northern Hills

The Western Disturbance will effect weather over the hills on the 15th and 16th of March. Precipitation will be intense over Jammu and Kashmir, followed by Himachal Pradesh and then Uttarakhand.

Rain in Srinagar

Srinagar has already surpassed the monthly normal of 115.6 mm of precipitation after recording 126 mm in the first two weeks of March itself.  In fact, the coming one will be the third consecutive weekend to witness a wet spell. Off and on rainfall has continued in the entire month.

Though light, we cannot rule out the possibility of snowfall in Srinagar during this weekend as well.
