As accurately predicted by Skymet Weather, parts of Jammu and Kashmir have recorded scattered rain and snow during the last 24 hours. The Western Disturbance (WD) over the Western Himalayas was responsible for giving these activities.

Today, the rains are expected to increase and cover most parts of Jammu and Kashmir as well as Ladakh. Meanwhile, scattered rain and snow may lash Himachal Pradesh. On the other hand, the weather of Uttarakhand may remain almost dry with isolated light rain.

Amidst rain and snow, the maximum temperature is expected to fall by 4-7 degrees Celsius in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh. While the minimums may increase in Uttarakhand and adjoining plains of Northwest India.

The weather activities might start clearing up from Valentine’s Day and dry weather conditions are likely to take over the region again.

Post this episode, the northwesterly cold winds would start blowing over the northern plains leading to a drop in the temperatures by a couple of degrees.

After the passage of current WD, another weather system is likely to approach the northern hills by February 16. However, the system might be feeble and as a result, would not be able to give much weather activity.
