The North Indian hills have been witnessing dry weather conditions since past few days. The last time that the region recorded some rain and snow was around March 13 and March 15. However, this may have been the last good snowfall to occur over the hilly states.

Although, another active Western Disturbance is expected around March 21 and March 22, but rains and snow will be of lesser intensity during that period.
Now, an active Western Disturbance is approaching over the Western Himalayas and after a gap of 3-4 days, the hilly states are once again all set to experience fresh snowfall and rainfall activities.
Currently, the Western Disturbance is over North Afghanistan and adjoining Pakistan. It will start affecting Jammu and Kashmir by today and scattered rain and snow is also expected to commence then.
Gradually by tonight Himachal Pradesh and upper reaches of Uttarakhand will also start receiving rain and thundershower activities with snowfall over few places. Intensity will increase on tomorrow and many districts of these hilly states will receive rain activities.
However, the intensity will start decreasing by March 22, but light to moderate rain and snow will continue. Uttarakhand will continue receiving good rainfall activities.
Furthermore, the Western Disturbance will move away eastwards by March 23 and weather will also start clearing up. This may be the last chance for tourists to witness snowfall activities over the hilly states.
