Weather across the 'seven sisters' of the country, Northeastern states have remained dry since a long time now. The initial days of February did bring some light rains for the northeastern region of the country though most parts are still observing rainfall deficiency.
However, now, the Western Disturbance which was over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir region is expected to move eastwards along the foothills of the Western Himalayan region. This would result in clouding to develop over East Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
Moreover, the easterly winds over Arunachal Pradesh and parts of Assam are also expected to contribute in increasing the cloudy conditions over both the states. The same weather situation is likely to remain for another 2-3 days thereby paving way for scattered light rain and thundershowers to show up in Arunachal Pradesh.
In addition to this, the higher reaches of Arunachal Pradesh are even expected to accumulate light snow. This weather pattern is expected to continue until February 11. Day temperatures are also likely to witness a significant fall and a marginal rise in minimums are also likely.
These rain and thundershower activities are though not expected to curtail down the already prevailing rainfall deficiency over the ‘seven sisters’ states’ including Arunachal Pradesh and Assam. Hence, we can say that the rainfall deficiency will continue to prevail over the region.
