Rain and Snow likely in Kashmir, Himachal, Uttarakhand; temperatures to dip

After heavy snowfall between November 1-3, weather of the hills of North India remained almost dry with isolated light rain activities over Jammu and Kashmir and parts of Himachal Pradesh.

However, successive passage of Western Disturbances approached Jammu and Kashmir, but they were so feeble in nature that they failed to give any significant weather activity.

Now, a fresh Western Disturbance is over Jammu and Kashmir. Due to this, light to moderate rains with snow with isolated heavy spells can be witnessed over Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh around November 13-14.

There are chances of light rain activities to commence by today evening but the intensity will only increase from tomorrow. Temperatures are expected to drop significantly over the entire state of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. State of Uttarakhand might also receive scattered rains.

However, chances of snowfall are less over Uttarakhand.

Moderate to heavy snowfall may once again obstruct the traffic on Jammu and Kashmir national highway and many other parts of the state. Places like Pahalgam,Gulmarg and Srinagar might receive rainfall. Snowfall is also possible over Shimla, Manali, Rohtang Pass,Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

November 16 onward, icy cool winds from northwest direction will commence which will be instrumental in dropping day and night temperatures over northern plains of the country including national capital, Delhi.
