However, any major spell of rain and snow has been missing. But the wait is now over as snowfall is all set to engulf the hilly states of North India again this weekend.

According to Skymet Weather, a fresh Western Disturbance would start affecting Jammu and Kashmir by February 9. As the models predict, the system would be active in nature that would be capable of giving widespread rain and snow over as Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during that time.

In addition to this, the system would be moving at a slow place and thus, the weather activity in terms of rain and snow would be a prolonged one. Weathermen are predicting that this approaching weather activities may continue at least for 3-4 days.

Most of the famous hill stations of Srinagar, Kullu, Manali, Shimla, Nainital, Mussoorie and Auli might get to see some snowfall activity this coming weekend.

Although at present, a Western Disturbance is moving across the Western Himalayas but as the system is travelling in the upper latitudes, the severity of rains will be very less. In fact, the impact of this system would be confined to Jammu and Kashmir only.

Weather will continue to cloudy over Jammu and Kashmir and as a result, light snowfall cannot be ruled out over the extreme higher reaches during the next 24 hours. Isolated light rains may occur over the lower parts of the state.

Vaishno Devi will also not witness any change in the weather and rains are not likely to pay a visit.

Till February 9, the sky conditions are likely to remain partly cloudy to cloudy and much change is not expected in the temperature levels across hills of North India. The maximums and minimums are expected to settle near normal levels for the next 2-3 days.
