The states of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh have been enjoying rainy and snowy days since a long time now. So much so that some places have been witnessing moderate to heavy rain and snow as well.
It seems like the hills of North India are making up for the lack of significant weather activity during the months of December as well as January.
Even a day before, good rain and snowfall activity was observed over the region.

In fact, a day before in a 24 hour span, Manali recorded a whopping 50 mm of rain followed by Qazigund where 26 mm of rain was recorded. Other parts to have received rain include Dharamsala 16 mm, Shimla 16 mm, Gulmarg 18 mm, Tehri 11 mm, Jammu 7 mm, Dehradun 4 mm.
Currently, a Western Disturbance is over North Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir.

Thus, rain and snow are expected to commence over Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh during the next 24 hours after today's slight break in between.
Thereafter, another Western Disturbance is in line which will affect the hills of North India around March 2 which is currently over North Aghanistan region, which means some parts may even see a rainy and snowy holi. Thus, this weather activity will continue until March 5 as the system is expected to be active.
