A Western Disturbance has been affecting the mountainous region of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Snowfall has been seen in the higher reaches of all three states. Lower reaches have seen rains.
During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Gulmarg recorded 30 mm of rains, Banihal 18 mm, and traces of rains in Jammu.
A blanket of white cover on account of this system has been seen in many of the higher reaches in the hills. Some roads including the Mughal Road, Jammu and Srinagar Highway have been closed due to heavy snowfall.
The snowfall activity is expected to continue over the hills until November 8-9. The activity will be spilling over to the plains largely covering North Punjab and North Haryana including Chandigarh, Yamunanagar, Karnal, Ambala, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Patiala, Amritsar.
Delhi has a very outside chance of receiving rains, and that could take place on November 9 or 10. Clearance of these rain and snow activities will take place by November 11.
