Weather in the Northern hills of India is running dry for almost a week now. However, a change in the present weather is likely after almost two to three days, around December 10 as a fresh Western Disturbance is soon expected to affect Jammu and Kashmir.

This system will bring back rain and snow in the region. On December 11, moderate rain and snowfall activities with isolated heavy spells are likely over Jammu and Kashmir as well as parts of Himachal Pradesh. Scattered rains will also be witnessed in Ladakh and Uttarakhand.

The intensity of these weather activities will be maximum on December 12 and 13 over the trio states. This is when the day temperature are likely to drop significantly in the hills.

The minimum temperature in several parts of Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir has already come down to sub-zero category. The day temperature has also come down to single-digit in many places.

If we look at the rain data, all the hilly states of the Western Himalayas are either running rain excess or largely excess until now. Uttarakhand is rain excess by 30%, Himachal Pradesh by 41% and Jammu and Kashmir is excess by 157%.
