A fresh feeble Western Disturbance has approached the Western Himalayas, which will give scattered light to moderate rain and snow in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Isolated rains might also occur over Uttarakhand. Meanwhile, light rains have been witnessed over higher reaches like Qazigund, Banihal and Gulmarg.
This Western Disturbance is not very strong, so we do not expect any heavy rain and snow over these hilly states.
In the next 48 hours, the weather will become completely dry once again. But, after a short break another much stronger Western Disturbance will approach the Himalayan region on March 11, which will continue to impact the hill states till March 13.
We expect rain and snow to be a little intense during this time. This spell will give light to moderate rain and snow at many places over Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh with one or two heavy spells. Also scattered rain and snow is expected over Uttarakhand.
The impact of this fresh WD will be felt over the plains of North India as well. States like Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, parts of North Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh will observe rain during this period.
After March 13, the WD will move eastwards leading to Northerly flow of icy cool winds. So once again we expect temperatures to drop marginally over the Northern Plains.
