Indian meteorology condition has been witnessing two activity centres since the last few days. One of the hotspot centers around Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Vidarbha and adjoining areas and the other lies in South India. In a span of 24 hours from 8.30 am on Monday, Jalgaon in Maharashtra received 27.6 mm of rain. Other places in the state like Malegaon, Pune, Akola and Nasik observed light rainfall activity. In Madhya Pradesh, Guna and Indore received 0.2 mm and 2 mm of rain respectively.

Rain in South India

The rain belt in peninsular India extends from coastal Karnataka to Kerala in the west coast to Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh in the east coast. In the last 24 hours, Cuddalore in the coastal Tamil Nadu received 11 mm of rain. Trivandrum and Chennai also observed some light rain.

In South India, the rain belt has extended up to the interiors as well. For instance Tiruchirappalli sitting at the geographic centre of Tamil Nadu received 13 mm of rain on Monday while Kodaikanal received 11.9 mm. Bangalore in the interiors of Karnataka witnessed some light rain as well.

Skymet's Meteorology Division in India has kept their readers updated about rain across the country and looking at the weather conditions in India, we could say that this continuous spell of rain is a precursor to the change of season and heralds the coming of spring. Meanwhile, the temperatures in North India are following a rising trend. The minimum and maximum temperatures in Delhi are at 10.3°C and 22.8°C, respectively. Once the minimum and maximum temperatures reach the 1:2 ratio and sustains for a couple of days, Skymet's Meteorology Division will announce the cessation of the winter season in India.
