The state of Bihar and Jharkhand have been receiving good rain and thundershower activities since the last two days. The intensity of the weather activity was more over Jharkhand, while Bihar mainly witnessed isolated rains. In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Sunday, Jamshedpur recorded 15 mm of rain, followed by Ranchi 4 mm and Daltonganj 2 mm.
Now due to the confluence zone which is extending from Chhattisgarh to Gangetic West Bengal, we expect light to moderate rain and thundershowers to continue in many parts of Jharkhand. However, only light rain with one or two moderate spells will occur in Bihar during the next 24 hours.
Thereafter, the weather conditions in Bihar will become almost dry. Jharkhand will however, continue to receive isolated rain and thundershower activities.
An anti-cyclone is over Bay of Bengal due to which humid southeasterly winds are feeding moisture to the region and merging with northwesterly cool winds. This is resulting in the formation of thunder clouds or convective clouds, which is subsequently leading to rainfall activity in the region
After this rainy episode we expect rainfall statistics in Jharkhand to improve. However, there will not be much improvement in the rainfall deficiency in Bihar.
Lightning strike accompanied with strong winds are also possible in parts of Jharkhand during this period. Chances of hailstorm activity in isolated pockets of the state cannot be ruled out either. Bihar would not experience any such weather activity.
