After few dust storm and light rain, Delhi witnessed some good showers at few places during the wee hours of Thursday. Isolated hail storm along with strong winds with speed of 50 kmph to 60 kmph was also witnessed for short duration.
Faridabad recorded 50 mm of rain, Noida 10 mm, Gurgaon 8 mm, Palam Observatory 1 mm and Safdarjung witnessed trace of rainfall.
According to Skymet Weather, the weather activities were on account of a cyclonic circulation that is presently prevailing over Haryana and adjoining Punjab. This system is attracting humid winds from the Arabian Sea that are reaching up the national capital region.
As we proceed further, the circulation will now gradually start weakening but isolated dust storm and thunderstorm activities are expected to continue over Delhi on May 5 and May 6 also.
In wake of wet spell, day temperatures are settling near normal and will continue to hover in same range for next two days.
However, night temperatures have registered steep drop of at least 10 degrees from last 48 hours. The significant drop was mainly due to hailstorm activity in the night hours.
The night temperatures that surpassed 30 degrees are now settling near 22°C. With this nights and mornings have become quite pleasant.
Skymet Weather predicts that weather is likely to clear up completely by May 7 and temperatures will start rising again and may exceed 40-degree mark.
However, another spell is approaching the capital city around May 10. Delhi will once again witness on and off thunderstorm and dust storm activities which would last for 2-3 days.
