Rain and hailstorm expected in Madhya Pradesh from Dec 24 to 26, crop damage likely

Just like Maharashtra, the state of Madhya Pradesh too is gearing up for some unseasonal rains between December 24 and 26. The spread would be scattered initially in the western and northern districts and later would cover some more parts.

These rains would be a result of the Confluence Zone, likely to form due to merging of winds from the two different directions. Northwesterly cool and dry winds are likely to converge with southeasterly humid winds from the Bay of Bengal. This combination would increase the cloud cover leading to subsequent rainfall in the state. Rains might be coupled with isolated hailstorm activities while one or two short intense spells in some parts cannot be ruled out.

In fact, light showers are expected today as well by late evening or night onward, however, these would be patchy in nature. The intensity is likely to increase from December 24, with rains covering a large part of Madhya Pradesh on December 25.

By December 26, rains will taper over the region and remain confined only to Southeastern districts.

The light intensity of rain might extend help to upcoming Rabi crops. However, chances of hailstorm and intense spells in some parts may damage the same.
