A fresh Western Disturbance is approaching Jammu and Kashmir. In the wake of this Western Disturbance, we expect fairly widespread rain and snow over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh between November 26 to 28. Whereas in Uttarakhand, light to moderate activity with one or two heavy spells of rain and snow is likely on November 27 and 28.
Along with this, there is a possibility of hailstorm in some parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. According to Skymet meteorologists, the weather will start clearing from Jammu and Kashmir by the afternoon of November 28. While in Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh the weather will start clearing up by the evening of November 28. The accumulation of fresh snow may lead to avalanche in some pockets of Jammu and Kashmir. Incidents of mudslides and landslides are also possible during this period.
The day temperature in the entire hill region is expected to drop by three to four degrees leading to very cold conditions. Places like Dharamshala, Manali, and Shimla may witness day temperatures in the range of 9-11 degrees Celsius. While the minimums in places like Keylong and Kalpa may come down to a sub-zero degree.
Post the passage of Western Disturbance, around November 29 there will be a significant drop in minimums with a marginal increase in maximums.
The impact of this Western Disturbance will be seen in the plains of North India in terms of rain and thundershowers. After the passage of Western Disturbance, the icy cold winds from the snow-clad mountains will help in pulling down the maximums and minimums over the northwestern plains of the country. There are chances that this weather condition may even lead to moderate to dense fog in parts of Punjab, Haryana and the foothills of West Uttar Pradesh.
