Conditions are becoming favourable for moderate to heavy rains over plains of North India over the next two days. More parts of East and Northeast Rajasthan, Western and Southern parts of Haryana, and the contiguous portion of Punjab are likely to have moderate to heavy rains on 23rd and 24th July 2024. Isolated places may have very heavy rains as well.

There is a cyclonic circulation over Northeast Rajasthan and adjoining South Haryana in the lower levels. Also, the monsoon trough, which is running south of its normal position, is likely to move northward and pass across Rajasthan, Haryana, and Delhi/NCR. Under the combined influence of these systems, the monsoon activity will pick up. The uptick in activity will cover largely Rajasthan, partially Haryana, and the least in Punjab. Delhi/NCR being in the close vicinity will also have a residual effect to break the jinx of a nearly dry spell for the last about one week.

Exclusive portions of these three states will be at risk of getting battered with severe weather activity. Places at risk in Rajasthan will include the capital city of Jaipur, Alwar, Dholpur, Swai Madhopur, Dausa, Sikar, Jhunjhunu, and Churu. The list of such locations in Haryana will be shorter and confine to Bhiwani, Hisar, Rewari, Fatehabad, Jind, and Kaithal. Punjab may get spared, and the risky locations will be along the Haryana border, like Bathinda, Mansa, and Sangrur.

The intensity and spread will be more on the first 2 days, 23rd and 24th July, with a tendency of core weather shifting southward on the second day. The remnant effect will be over East Rajasthan on the third day, 25th July. Significant improvement in the weather conditions can be expected a day later, and follow suit in the remaining days of the week.
