Rain activities to revisit Northeast and parts of East India

Winter rains over East and Northeast India remained largely excess. Between January 1 and February 19, East and Northeast India have witnessed 55% surplus rainfall.

Arunachal Pradesh remained in normal range category with 6% surplus. Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura combined received 51% surplus and are in excess rain category. Rest all the meteorological divisions are large excess.

A feeble Cyclonic Circulation is over Assam and adjoining parts of Arunachal Pradesh. Moreover, humid winds from the Bay of Bengal are feeding moisture to Northeast India. Light to moderate rain and snow with a few heavy spells are possible over Arunachal Pradesh in the next 48 hours. Scattered light to moderate rain and thundershowers may occur over rest of Northeast India including Sikkim during next 2 to 3 days.

A trough is extending from Gangetic West Bengal to Coastal Odisha due to this, light to moderate rain may also occur over West Bengal, Odisha and parts of Jharkhand during the next 24 hours. Thereafter, weather of Jharkhand will go dry, however light rain activities may continue over Gangetic West Bengal and coastal areas of Odisha for another 24 to 48 hours.
