At present, a Cyclonic Circulation has developed over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal. This system is likely to move Northwest and is likely to shift close to Jharkhand and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal during the next 24 hours.
Also, a Trough is extending from Northwest India to North Bay of Bengal across East Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand and West Bengal. In the past 24 hours, extreme southern parts of West Bengal and adjoining Coastal Odisha has recorded very good spells. Heavy rains have been recorded in parts of Midnapore, South Parganas, Paradip, Bhubaneswar, and Puri.
As per our experts, today the rainfall activity is likely to increase over most parts of Gangetic West Bengal and Coastal Odisha. Also, today one can expect moderate to isolated heavy spells in parts of Malda, Murshidabad, Purulia, Bankura, Bardhaman, Jharkhand, Balasore, Bhadrak, Koraput, Malkangiri and Sambalpur districts.
After 24 hours, rainfall activity is likely to decrease from many parts of Odisha and Southeast parts of Gangetic West Bengal. However, light rains would continue over Kolkata and adjoining areas. Whereas, moderate spells are a possibility over Bardhaman, Birbhum, and Murshidabad over the next two days. Also, the possibility of few heavy spells over Malda and Dinajpur district cannot be ruled out. The rainfall deficiency continued over Gangetic West Bengal at 52% whereas Odisha is deficit by 17% which falls under the normal range.

The Weather condition will be pleasant with no major disturbances, However, light to moderate rain is likely to persist throughout the event especially during afternoon, evening and night hours.

Rain and thundershower with gusty winds will affect some places of Angul, Balangir, Balasore, Bargarh, Baudh, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Debagarh, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jagatsinghapur, Jajapur, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Kendrapara, Kendujhar, Khordha, Koraput, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangapur, Nayagarh, Nuapada, Puri, Rayagada, Sambalpur, Subarnapur and Sundargarh during the next 18-24 hours.
