A cyclonic circulation lies over the central part of Punjab in the lower level. In the last 48 hours, the northern and eastern part of Punjab including Jalandhar and Kapurthala has received heavy rainfall. In the last 24 hours, rainfall has decreased and few places have received light rains including Ludhiana 8mm, and no significant system is prevailing the area. Hence, patchy rain is possible and the weather will be hot and humid.

As reiterated by Skymet Weather, thestate of Punjab has recordedhefty showers with a couple of places witnessing three digit rains in the past 24 hours. In fact, some parts even saw mammoth rains during this period resulting in very hefty showers.
In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday,Kapurthalarecorded a whopping 175 mm of rains followed byJalandharwhere 93 mm of rains were observed. Other places which recorded rains includeLudhiana57.4 mm, Firozpur 24.3 mm,Amritsar21.2 mm, and Anandpur Sahib 14 mm.
These rainfall activities have been attributed to the presence of a system which was over West Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Rajasthan region. Moreover, A Western Disturbance was seen over theJammu and Kashmirregion. The combined effect of these systems caused some intense rains over the state of Punjab.
Now, as per weathermen, rainy days are expected to be seen during the next few days. In fact, many parts of Punjab will be observing moderate rains in the next 24 hours along with a few intense spells of rains. In fact, rains will be picking up pace, particularly on August 5 and 6 wherein the state is likely to see heavy showers.
