Long wait for the season’s first spell of winter rains over Punjab and Haryana has finally come to an end. Both the states have recorded light to moderate rain in span of 24 hours. Intensity of rain and spread was more over parts of Punjab in comparison to Haryana.
According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, several weather systems are responsible for the weather activity. Presently a Western Disturbance is prevailing over Jammu and Kashmir. While, its induced cyclonic circulation is marked over Punjab and adjoining areas.
In wake of these systems, fairly widespread rain and thundershowers were witnessed over parts of Punjab. While, Haryana witnessed scattered light showers only.
As per Skymet Weather, weather systems are likely to clear the region now. With this, rain activity over both the states will also take a back seat. People of northern states will now witness clear weather conditions with bright sunshine.
Both the maximum and minimum temperatures that have been settling above normal will also take a dip. However, night temperatures will witness a significant drop of 3-4 degrees but dip in day temperatures will be marginal one.
Let us have a look at the rainfall figures across both the states in span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday.
