It seems that the rainy days are not yet over for the northwest plains of the country. States like Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and some parts of Rajasthan have seen rain and thundershowers showing up last week.

The rains then took a backseat soon but the weather across these states still remained pleasant. The day temperatures that were witnessing a near or beyond the 40-degree Celsius mark remained under 40°C.

As per Skymet Weather, the Western Disturbance is now seen over Jammu and Kashmir which has induced a cyclonic circulation over Northwest Rajasthan and adjoining Haryana and Punjab. Moreover, a trough from this system is also extending up to Uttar Pradesh.

Thus, the combined effect of these weather systems will give scattered rain and thundershowers along with the possibility of isolated dust storm over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and many parts of Rajasthan today.

However, by tomorrow, the weather system is likely to shift eastwards. Thus, the pre-Monsoon rain activities are likely to reduce over Rajasthan and Delhi but are expected to continue over western parts of Uttar Pradesh and North Punjab.

These on and off pre-Monsoon rain activities have been occurring over the northwest plains since April 20. And thus these rains have resulted in dropping the temperatures which further led to the abatement of heatwave from North India.

Moreover, these rainy activities are expected to continue throughout the month with a gap of two to three days. Therefore, the temperature is not expected to rise much and heatwave conditions which were prevailing during initial April will not make a comeback.
