Northwest plains of India have been dry for the last 2 days. This is because the axis of the Monsoon trough has shifted northwards and is now lying close to foothills of the Himalayas.
Accordingly, winds have changed from easterly to northwestly winds. Skymet Weather predicts this type of weather condition to continue for another 24 to 48 hours.
During the upcoming spell of Monsoon showers, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and North Madhya Pradesh will start receiving rains. Gradually, the rain belt will cover eastern parts of Rajasthan. Scattered light to moderate rains will continue for 3 to 4 days across the plains of North India.
So far, Delhi has witnessed few spells of good Monsoon rains. And, the national capital region has recorded 233.7 mm of rain, against the monthly average rainfall of 187 mm. This shows that Delhi has already attained its monthly mean target, with about 10 days to go.
