Punjab, Haryana, Delhi will continue to receive good Monsoon rains

The Monsoon trough is keeping Southwest Monsoon active over the plains of North India. At present, the trough is running from South Punjab to the Bay of Bengal across Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

The axis of monsoon trough is now passing through Ferozepur, Delhi, Hamirpur, Daltonganj, Midnapore and thence, east­southeastwards to northeast Bay of Bengal. This trough is likely to shift northwards, close to the foothill of the Himalayas during next 24 hours.

Accordingly, fairly widespread good Monsoon showers will continue over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and North Madhya Pradesh. We can expect extremely heavy rainfall at one or two places.

In fact, intensity of rainfall will increase over Delhi, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh and North Madhya Pradesh over the next 24 hours.

The Safdarjung observatory in Delhi received 24.7 mm of rainfall while the Palam observatory recorded 32.5 mm on Thursday.
