December 15, 2018 12:00 PM | Skymet Weather Team

The Western Disturbance has moved away, and a feeble western disturbance is roughly close to Afghanistan region as an upper air system. This will not have much affect over the area. Currently, north/ north-easterly winds are prevailing over Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi region.

As per the records, the minimums have dropped marginally over the plains and a slight rise has been observed in parts of Punjab. Due to prevalent northerly winds and rise in temperature, the fog intensity has reduced.

In Delhi, minimum temperature at Palam airport for Saturday morning has dropped by 1°C and has come down to 8.1°C whereas the current maximum is 14°C. On the other hand, minimum temperature at Safdarjung airport almost remained the same. At Palam airport the visibility recorded was around 600 metres for a very short duration, however rest parts of Delhi remained good with almost clear sky conditions.

As per experts, we expect shallow fog and mist to continue over most parts of Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan. Isolated moderate fog may be observed in pockets of these regions. Also, small wind discontinuity can be marked over western parts of Uttar Pradesh and this region may observe light moderate fog. Mainly sunny sky and comfortable day is likely over the area and day temperatures are expected to rise marginally. This situation is expected to prevail for next 24-48 hours.

Talking about Delhi pollution, the air quality has once again shown significant improvement in the last 24 hours. The credit for the same goes to prevalent north-westerlies and decrease in humidity levels. Also, once the wind speed will pick up pace, there will be further improvement in pollution levels and will remain in ‘moderate’ category only.
