The Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir has induced a cyclonic circulation over Central Pakistan and adjoining parts of north-west Rajasthan.
Light rain has already occurred over parts of Punjab and north Haryana. Today, many districts of Punjab may receive light to moderate rain and thundershower activities. By the night of February 3rd, parts of Haryana such as Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Kaithal and Karnal may start receiving rain activities. Rain and thundershower activities will cover almost entire Haryana, Delhi as well as parts of West Uttar Pradesh by February 4th.
Rain and snow will also continue over Western Himalayas right from Jammu Kashmir to Uttarakhand on February 3rd and 4th. Uttarakhand may receive moderate snowfall on February 4. Rain belt will gradually move towards east and by February 5th, the weather of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi NCR, Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and Ladakh will become clear. Isolated light rain and snow may continue over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Eastern parts of the country particularly central and east Uttar Pradesh, parts of east Madhya Pradesh, north Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal will receive rain activities between February 5th and 6th. The intensity of rain will be comparatively less over the eastern and central part of the country. Reversal of winds from dry and cold northwesterly to warm and humid easterly and southeasterly will lead to an increase in minimum temperatures and abatement of cold wave conditions.
Temperatures in north-west India particularly Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Rajasthan will witness a drop of 2 to 4 degree Celsius by February 5th. There will be a gradual decrease in minimum temperatures in north-west India for at least until February 8. After February 8, isolated pockets of Rajasthan and Haryana may experience cold wave conditions once again. But as the average temperatures are also arising, therefore, severe cold wave conditions are ruled out. Moderate to dense fog is also anticipated over North West India on February 6 and 7.
