After reeling in above 40-degree maximums, some rains have finally blessed the northern parts of Punjab including Amritsar. Though these rainy spells were light in nature, they did result in dropping the daytime temperatures by a few notches.

The temperatures that were settling around 40 degrees mark in most parts of the northern state have reduced to settle in the range of 34°C to 35°C, now.

According to Skymet Weather, light rains in Northern parts of Punjab is due to the back to back Western Disturbance which has given rain in Amritsar. It's induced cyclonic circulation is persisting over Punjab and adjoining Pakistan.

In the span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Amritsar recorded 18 mm of rain, Pathankot recorded 4 mm, Chandigarh recorded 2.6 mm, Anandpur Sahib recorded 1 mm and Patiala recorded 0.4 mm. Places like Ludhiana, Ferozepore, Bhatinda have also recorded few traces of rainfall.

Thereafter, these pre-Monsoon showers may further bring down the temperatures but it will be a short-term relief as after the weather activity, temperatures will rise and troll back to normal.

However, we may witness light rains in the region of Punjab during the next 24 hours.
