After giving a brief break from the intense summer heat, heatwave conditions once again made a comeback over parts of Vidarbha and North Madhya Maharashtra. The temperatures soared beyond the 45-degree mark in most locations.
On Monday, Akola soared at the maximum of 46.9ºC, Wardha at 46.5ºC, Amrawati 46.4ºC, Yeotmal 45.5ºC, Chandrapur 45.4ºC, Bramhapuri 45ºC, and Jalgaon 45ºC.
In addition to this, heatwave like conditions prevailed over Parbhani with the maximum temperature of 44.8ºC, Nagpur 44.4ºC, and Washim 44.2ºC.
However, Skymet Weather predicts that these heatwave conditions would be short lived as we expect scattered thundershowers or thunderstorm activities to continue in most parts of Maharashtra.

In fact, some scattered rains also occurred in the past day in parts of Madhya Maharashtra and Konkan. Within the span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Monday, Solapur recorded 17 mm of rains, Udgir 2 mm, Sangli 1 mm, Ratnagiri 0.4 mm, and Vengurla recorded some traces of rains.
As of now, pre-Monsoon rains are expected to continue over Vidarbha leading to a reduction in temperature, finally resulting in abatement of heatwave conditions. Pre-Monsoon spells would also continue over South Madhya Maharashtra and South Konkan.
In fact, these rains would intensify, and one or two heavy spells are also likely over South Konkan. Some more parts of North Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada may also receive rain or thundershowers during the next 24-48 hours. Thus, the districts like Vengurla, Ratnagiri, Pune, Ahmednagar, Jeur, and Parbhani would receive some rain and thundershowers.
