The geographical location of Pune is that it lies in Madhya Maharashtra which is away from the coastal region of the country. Therefore, it has been receiving light to moderate rains only in last many days.
However, heavy showers were also observed over Pune on one or two occasions. Due to heavy spells in the first week of August, Pune managed to surpass its monthly average by almost double the amount. The average monthly rainfall observed for Pune during the month of August is 122.3 mm, while, till date, the city has already recorded 212.6 mm rain.
During last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Wednesday as well, the city managed to observe light spells of merely 7.7 mm. Although rains are continuously blessing Pune, they are just confined to few locations only. Pune has not received fairly widespread rainfall so far.
Currently, there are no significant weather systems over Madhya Maharashtra and North Arabian Sea. Therefore, only light to moderate spells can be expected over Pune as of now. Moreover, the offshore trough is also gradually weakening which would bring in only light spells. The sky is also expected to remain partly cloudy and weather conditions are also expected to remain comfortable.
