The month of July ended on a good note for the state of Maharashtra. The state was surplus by a good margin bringing up the hopes of the residents of the state. Pune also received good rains during the month.
Now, as August has already spread its wings, looks like rain gods are a little too happy with the city. So much so that Monsoon rains have been lashing the city for the past 72 hours. While Pune received 40 mm of rain a day before, rainfall intensity increased during the last 24 hours.
During the last 21 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday to 5:30 am today, Pune recorded a whopping 73 mm of rainfall. Thus, in the past two days, the city has recorded a good 101 mm of rain.
The monthly average rainfall for Pune during the month of August stands at 122.3 mm, and the city has so far received 133.6 mm of rain, which happens to be 11.3 mm more than its monthly mean. Thus, Pune has easily been able to surpass its monthly rains in just about four days.
Last year, during the month of August Pune had recorded a mere 62 mm of rain. This year, Southwest Monsoon has been good enough for the city.
During the next 24 hours, Pune is expected to receive on and off light Monsoon rains. In fact, weather conditions will not go completely dry over the city.
