As of today morning, the city of Pune has recorded 9.9°C which is the second lowest temperature in November this year. And as of today morning the hill station of Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh has recorded the minimum temperature of 12.2°C.

On November 11, the city of Pune recorded 9.4°C and on November 12 it was 9.9°C. This is the lowest temperature after 2012. On November 17, 2012 the lowest temperature was 7.9°C.

Since last few days Pune has witnessed drastic ups and lows in minimum temperature. On November 17, the minimum temperature was increased to 16.7°C and just after three days the temperature has once again dropped to single digit.

In last 10 days there has been a fluctuation of 6-7°C. The vast fluctuation in the temperature can be linked to direction of winds. Whenever winds start blowing from west, i.e. westerly or northwesterly, the minimum temperature increases as these winds are warm and humid in nature. And sometimes when easterly wave becomes active that time winds from southeast also tend to raise the temperature as these winds are warm and travel from Bay of Bengal.

And as soon as the wind direction changes, i.e. from northerly and northeasterly direction, there is a steep fall in minimum temperature as these winds are dry and cold.

These winds are blowing from hills of West Himalayas and reach up to Madhya Maharashtra via Madhya Pradesh. We now expect that these winds will continue for another 2 days meaning Pune and adjoining areas of Maharashtra will remain below normal and very cool.
