June didn’t bring much of a good news for Pune as far as rains are concerned. The city did not perform well and remained rain deficient during the month of June. So much so that the city recorded a mere 41 mm rain in June against its monthly average of 116 mm of rain.

However, July did bring enough rain for the residents of Pune. The city has been receiving rains since the first day of July. While rains were light during the first two days, heavy rainfall has been lashing Pune during the last 48 hours.

While Pune recorded a whopping 73 mm of rain a day before, heavy rains were also recorded yesterday. During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Pune recorded a whopping 43 mm of rain. So much so that the city has recorded about 20 mm more rain than Mumbai during the last 24 hours.

Within a span of four days in July, Pune has already recorded 128.2 mm of rain.  The monthly average rain for the city stands at 187.2 mm. While June may have been a poor performer in terms of rain, such figures in July do show good signs for the coming days as well.

Now, good rains are likely to continue over Pune during the next 24 to 48 hours. Temperatures will remain in the comfortable range during this period. Thereafter around July 7, rainfall intensity is expected to decrease.
