Pune receives first spell of rain in June before arrival of Monsoon

Pune weather has remained mostly dry for the past one month. In fact, during the last 30 days, the city has received rain on just two occasions namely on May 12 and 15. However, these spells were isolated and light in nature and were not enough to bring in that much needed relief.

Usually, April and May remain the hottest months for the city of Pune. So much so that the city does not receive much rain during this period. The first few days before the onset of Monsoon also remain hot and dry.

After a prolonged dry period, Pune has finally received some rains. This rainy spell was welcomed by the residents who were craving for these showers that would bring in that much needed relief. During the last 21 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday to 5:30 pm on Monday, Pune recorded 16.8 mm of rain.

Day maximum in Pune was settling around 4 to 5 degrees above the normal levels. Due to this spell of rain, the maximum temperature is currently settling at 33.7 degrees, which is close to the normal levels.

Now, Monsoon is likely to make its onset over Pune shortly. Before that, the city is expected to receive some more rains which is expected to keep the temperatures close to the normal levels.
