Pune, Nashik, Ratnagiri, Mumbai to remain dry; irrigate summer groundnut

While parts of Vidarbha and Marathwada still got to see some light rains, Konkan & Goa and Madhya Maharashtra regions continue to remain dry. It was due to the persistent dry weather conditions that the day temperatures of in Madhya Maharashtra are settling in higher 30’s, while Konkan & Goa has been recording in lower 30’s.

As per Skymet Weather, a cyclonic circulation is persisting over Southeast Arabian Sea off Kerala coast. However, currently, there is no significant weather system near or around Konkan & Goa or Madhya Maharashtra region.

In the wake of this, the weather conditions over these two regions would continue to remain dry. Sky would also continue to remain bright and sunny. On account of the dry weather over these two regions, the temperatures may rise again.

In Konkan & Goa, the maximums would continue to remain in lower 30’s. The night temperatures, on the other hand, may register a marginal fall due to the prevalence of northerly and northeasterly winds. In fact, the coastal stations like Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Dahanu, and Ratnagiri would remain humid. This dry and warm weather condition is anticipated to continue until the month end.

At this juncture, let us take a look at the impact of this weather on the agricultural belt of Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra:

Due to prevailing dry weather, farmers are suggested to continue with the harvesting of Rabi crops, Orange, Pomegranate and Mosambi crops. Also, farmers are advised to irrigate summer groundnut and Maize crops.
