Cold wave has gripped the Pune, Nashik, and Sholapur region of Maharashtra with minimums falling below normal. The cold wave conditions in the region have left Nagpur and adjoining areas under a blanket of extreme cold.
The conditions, however, are expected to abate over the next two days.
Till now, cold wave conditions were prevalent in parts of North India with states like Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Haryana witnessing cold wave conditions.
Maharashtra, usually, observe cold wave on few occasions only. But this year, Maharashtra has also been experiencing cold wave conditions for the last few days.
Normally during this time of the year, this part of the country should observe maximums in the twenties and minimums in the low teens (ie 13-15°C). For example, the normal for Nagpur is 13°C (Minimum) and the normal for Akola is 14°C (Minimum). But this has not been the case so far and the current minimums for various places in the region are:
