The Monsoon activities continued to remain vigorous along the Konkan coast in the past 24 hours. Also, many parts of Konkan have received three-digit rainfall. Apart from Konkan, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathwada too received heavy rains in many parts.
Significant rains in the past 24 hours have been seen over Alibag 142 mm, Santa Cruz 134 mm, Dhanu 187 mm, Thane 57 mm, Wardha 52 mm, Brahmapuri 63 mm, Nanded 60 mm, Buldana 55 mm, Harnoi 81 mm, Ratnagiri 66 mm, Parbhani 40 mm, and Satara 48 mm.
These rains can be attributed to the monsoon surge that remained active along the Konkan region. Also, an upper air Trough which is extending from Gujarat to Coastal Odisha across Maharashtra and Telangana is extending between 3.6 km to 6 km above sea level. In the next 24 hours, the rains are likely to continue with heavy spells over most parts of Madhya Maharashtra and Vidarbha and few parts of Marathwada and thereafter the activities might slowdown.
Coastal Maharashtra is likely to receive heavy to very heavy rains with chances of flooding conditions over Mumbai and Alibag region. Ratnagiri, Harnoi, Vengurla, Pune, Nashik, Ahmednagar and parts of Aurangabad are very likely to record heavy to very heavy spells and may even touch the mark of 100 mm of rains. As of yesterday, the seasonal rainfall remained plus twenty-nine in Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra was surplus by 37% while Marathwada is marginally below normal at minus 25%.
